- If we have approached you on behalf of a client, we will communicate with you on an ongoing basis, so that you know exactly where you are at each stage of your work with us and what is expected of you as we proceed through the recruitment process
- Remember that we work for our clients who retain our services to fill specific positions. We will get back in touch with you as soon as a position which fits with your experience and career aspirations becomes available.
Once you have decided to pursue an opportunity, we will:
- Communicate the recruitment process details and likely timescales, bearing in mind that for scarce skills sets which may involve transferability of skills and relocation, the timescales for recruitment are likely to be extended;
- Ensure that you understand what is expected from you at each stage of the process:
- application - what is needed, such as CV and answers to screening questions
- timescales - so that you know what diary time you need to block out and when
- interview - which criteria are being covered and who you will be seeing
- assessment tools - what they are and what they measure, plus practice questions so that you can see exactly what you are being asked to do
- outcome and follow-up - when you can expect to hear and next steps;
- As part of the recruitment process, you will have a competency-based interview and may also be asked to complete some assessment tools;
- In line with our core values, Ogma Global Resourcing will give you open and honest feedback on your performance throughout the process.
- We will brief you about the company and role so that you can make an informed decision as to whether this opportunity is right for you, based on what you are seeking and the role requirements.
CV Tips
Your Curriculum Vitae (CV) is, essentially, your sales brochure; it needs to reflect you and to give prospective employers a quick view of who you are and what you have achieved.
Here are some tips to think about:
- Make your CV comprehensible and easy to read.
- Use the same tense throughout the CV (i.e.: all past tense or present tense and ideally not in the 3rd person).
- Be specific, clear and concise.
- Indicate and quantify where possible your achievements, e.g. improved productivity on previous years performance of 10% by a further 25% increase in overall productivity.
- Use bullet points and/or italics to make your CV easier to read.
- Detail most recent work experience first.
- Use full wording for any acronyms on the first use and avoid the use of jargon.
- Your CV should not be longer than 2 pages (a 3rd page should only include major achievements/highlights as a separate page).
There are many websites that also provide advice - please see below for some sources of information: http://www.cipd.co.uk/mandq/careers/new/applying.htm?http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1505850.stm
Interview Tips
Key aspects you may want to think about are:
- Your motivation for the role - why this move to this company and to this role at this time?
- Your areas of strength against the job profile and those where development may be needed.
- If relocation is involved, demonstrate that you have thought through the implications for this with your family and that your partner is fully supportive of the move.
- Your fit in terms of both the country and company culture.
- Concrete examples to demonstrate that you can meet the required competencies of job - thinking of these in advance gives you more mental capacity to cope with those "left-field" questions that interviewers like to throw in.
- Demonstrating that you have researched and understand the company and where you can contribute.
- Having some key questions prepared so that you have all the information you need to make a decision about whether this role is right for you - interviews are a two-way process!
- How you want to dress for the interview, how you come across and what your body language says about you - try asking some trusted friends or work colleagues how they see you.
- Being yourself and getting a good night's sleep before the day!
Assessment Tips
As mentioned above, you may have to take some assessment tools, these can include; personality questionnaires. You will be briefed in advance so that you fully understand what is expected of you and some websites to support you are given below. Given that feedback is an integral part of our service to you - this is a unique opportunity for you to gain deeper insight into yourself and your career.
Key aspects you may want to think about are:
- Taking some practice tests if you know that you have some ability tests to take - if this is the case you will be sent some sample questions in advance so that you have an idea of the type of questions you will face.
- If giving a presentation - practicing in advance so that you get your timing right.
- If taking personality questionnaires - be yourself, if completing online, do in a quiet environment where you will not be interrupted, follow the instructions and try not to think about the answers too hard - your first initial response is usually right!
- Inform us well in advance if you require reasonable adjustments for any disability, and we will require confirmation from a qualified medical practitioner, so that we are better able to respond to your specific needs.
- Get a good night's sleep!
